The Big Garbett Family Campout 2008

The time finally came for the family campout. Andy made sure to let us know far enough ahead of time that Claude could take vacation and we could stay. I got two dog sitters, wse bought a tent, and made plans to actually stay all night. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT---WE ACTUALLY STAYED THE WHOLE TIME?!?

Andy and Melanie did a good job of planning. They went up early on Friday morning and got the camp spot. They sure saved us, bacause the campgrounds really filled up. They went for a 4-wheeler ride and while they were gone Calude and I got there. We pitched our tent, unloaded, parked the truck back in some trees by our tent, got our chairs out and were just lounging around waiting for them to return. When the got back they didn't think we were there because they couldn't see the truck, but there were two OLD people sitting by their camper. What a surprise for them. Emily came that night. Emily cooked the first night. Claude and I made dutch oven chicken and potatoes the second night, and Andy made breakfast both mornings. Clay and Deena brought lunch for the trip to Bear Lake for the swimmers.

Payton and Tori are here on his 4 wheeler. He gave rides to all the little kids.

And here is proof----I actually slept in a tent. Twelve years and Claude finally got me sleeping in the great outdoors. ( and my dogs survived my brother and mother, or should I say my brother and mother survived our dogs?)

We had fun.

Big Campout Part 2

Now Claude isn't one to be much for games, so for him to find a game he likes, buy it, bring it, put it together, and play it is a big deal. It is ladder golf and is pretty fun.

Tori would throw her arms up in the air when she made her ringers.

And how do you like Mel's "Special" hat. What a cutie.

Camping part 3

Jinettie and Cole and Clay. Dig the head gear.
Cole was always smiling and really liked the camp food. He is a good eater.
Emily took the first night to do her cooking. She precooked roast and shredded it and made barbecue beef sandwiches, veggies, and salad. All the food was good.
Grandpa tried to get Coley to keep the hat on, but it wasn't gonna happen.

Big Campout Part 4

Every time you turned around there were dirty kids. This picture was taken after Tori, Payton, and Taylee layed in the dirt and made pop mud pies. Tori and Taylee were the dirtiest-----but the one who really shows up in the photo is Tater.

We had five of our eight grandkids there. We missed Cayson, Connor, and Chloe but had fun with the ones who were there. I know why people have children when they are young. I would never be able to keep up with their energy in my old age. They are all so cute and have such different personalities. Cole and Taylee are almost always smiling, Payton takes care of all of the girls and is now into the competitive phase. He beat Neal and Corbin shooting arrows at a target.

Wish everybody could have been there but Alan started a new job and Deasarae and Cliff both had to work and are also very preggers at the moment. It was great talking around the campfire at night. Mikey and his woman even came up and visited. Corbin sure is good with the kids.

Deena and Cole Poky are seen here.

Spring in Soda Springs

Well, spring has finally come to Soda Springs. Since I have overtaken the garage with all of my scrapbooking supplies, Claude has had to build another garage just so we can park our cars. This one is actually full sized---something that we didn't know our old one wasn't. We are turning the old garage into a place for food storage and a scrapbook room. It was hard digging but we finally got most of the cement work finished. Here the men are putting the shingles on. We are waiting to get the right siding to finish the outside walls.

We also have a new little boy at our house. His name is Moe. Needless to say, Maggie is not too thrilled to have a brother. I guess we shouldn't let them keep believing that they are human. At least Maggie does not know she is a (D O G).

Grankpa and the Grandkids

Andy came to Soda to help Alan with some repairs in his trailer so Emily gathered up the kids and came to see Grandpa. You can see that they had a good time playing and eating crackers and cheese.

Taylees Dance Recital

We went to see Taylee at her Dance Recital last Saturday. As you can see she did a wonderful job. Her new thing is her cheesie grin. She even kept her makeup on this time. I guess she is just growing up before our eyes.

Andy's Christmas Party

Andy and Mel and the kids invited us to the Christmas Party this year. As the date grew nearer Melanie ended up in the hospital for surgery. They didn't want to cancel the party so we went on without Melanie. We are glad her surgery went will and hope she will be feeling much better now.

What a cute bunch of Grandkids we have. Torri is talking a blue streak. Jinettie is really a busy little girl. Taylee is our smart little girl. Chloe is growing up---we don't get to see her as often and she sure has changed. Payton, Cayson, and Connor are all boy.

We tried to get a group picture and it was a real experience. Seven kids in one photo, wow.

We also got one of Claude and his kids. (What a proud Father.)

We had a blast---hope everyone else did too.

Merry Christmas from the Garbetts

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over
we can finally start getting ready for
the Christmas season.
We spent some time on Saturday putting
together the deer and even put lights on
one of our pine trees this year.
Now all that we need is some of the white stuff.
